US Senator. He served in the United States Senate from the state of Wyoming from January 3, 1943 to January 3, 1949. He served in the Third Battalion of the Welsh Regiment during the Boer War from 1899 to 1902. After his military service, he worked in mechanical and electric power engineering before immigrating to the United States in 1912. He settled in Wyoming and later raised livestock and worked in the mercantile business in Cody, Wyoming. In 1942, he ran, as a Republican, for the United States Senate against incumbent Democratic Sen. Henry H. Schwartz and was successful in the November general election. He served one term in the Senate before losing his re-election to Democratic Gov. Lester C. Hunt in 1948. After his loss, he retired from politics and first settled in Cody before moving to Pendleton, Oregon in 1958.
