Wounded severely July 4, 1863, Battle of Helena, Ark.
Union defenses outnumbered 3 to 1 were attacked by a force of approx. 10,000 Confederates however at the end of the day the union still held the ground.
Peleg died of wounds July 13,1863, Memphis, Tenn.
