Alice Faye Bybee, 86, Neosho, died July 20, 2011 at Seneca House Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness.

Alice was born Oct. 3, 1924 in Lebanon, KS, the daughter of Harvey Guy and Jessie Mae (Idleman) Gilbert.

She was a longtime area resident and had worked as a nurses' aide and physical therapist assistant for local hospitals. She was a member of the Grove First Christian Church and enjoyed bowling and knitting for her family.

Alice married Ray Gilpin and to that union, a daughter, Raylene was born; she then married Henry Hodge and to that union, a son, Mitch was born.
She then married Jess Bybee and their marriage blended the lives of the two families, Jess precedes her in death.

Alice is survived by four children, Raylene Vaughan, Neosho; Mitch Hodge, Joplin; Mary Chrisman, Ketchem, OK and Nancy Kidd, Little Elm, TX; a sister, Doris Wilson, Neosho; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and spouses, she is preceded in death by a son, Rodney Gilpin; a grandson, Jeffrey Phillips; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
