Gerald Austin and his first wife, Bessie Merrill, were the parents of one son, Merrill L. Austin. Bessie died Feb. 27, 1926 in Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY. On Nov. 14 of the same year, Gerald married Harriet Blanche Dezengremel there.

Survived by his wife, Blanche; a son, Merrill L.; brother of Mrs. Bernice Streeter, Mrs. Ethel Cutting, and Carl Austin; 1 grandson, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services Friday, 11 a.m. at St. Phillips in the Hills Church. Interment South Lawn Memorial Park. Arizona Mortuary.

TUCSON, Ariz. [UPI] -- Funeral services will be held Friday for Gerald W. Austin, 74, formerly a prominent northern New York businessman, who died Wednesday after a brief illness.

Austin formerly lived in Watertown, N. Y., where he founded and headed the Austin Ice Cream Co. until it was sold to the Borden Co. in 1953.
