The Oldham Era, LaGrange, KY, v. 48, no. 33, Friday, September 14, 1923, p. 1: "JOHN HUGH WHITESIDES - John Hugh Whitesides, retired farmer, aged 76 years, died Tuesday evening at 6:40 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Lindsey, after a week's suffering from general disability. Mr. Whitesides had spent his life in Oldham county, coming to LaGrange when he finished his farm life. He was for many years an earnest member of the LaGrange Christian church and from this church he was taken to his rest in the Valley of Rest after the funeral at 3 p.m. Thursday. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank Lindsey, two sons, Walter and Russell Whitesides, of Louisville, one sister, Mrs. Amanda Fishback, also of Louisville; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren."
