Lieut Edward Rowe Snow

I toured Fort Warren as a child back in 1975 or so. You asked some Q&A and I got the questions right! You were very kind and I will never forget that! May you rest in peace!

Every year I went to the Marshfield Fair where you held the spelling bee. Every year I won and got, in addition to the prize, a signed copy of one of your books. We corresponded after I went into the Navy and your friendship was so much appreciated. Fair winds and following seas to you, old timer! May the Eternal Skipper show you every blessing.

Mr. Snow, you continue to be missed by so many people. You shared a love of New England history with your endless stories of treasures, lighthouses and unsolved mysteries. You were and remain a good friend. Thank you!

Edward Rowe Snow took me on a wonderful tour of Fort Warren and Graves Light around 1961, when I was 10 years old. His young daughter, Dorothy, was with our family on the tour. I'll never forget the excitement of climbing the 40 ft. ladder to enter the lighthouse. His books are excellent. He and his wife were so kind to operate the Flying Santa program for the lighthouse keepers around the East Coast.

I remember my mother telling me stories of having you for a teacher in Winthrop, Mass. She loved your class and the stories you told. You were her favorite teacher. I am going to look for your books next time I go to the library. Rest in Peace.

Well, Mr. Snow we did it. Your daughter(Dorothy) and I got together 2 years ago and so far have gotten 4 of your books reprinted. They are going great. The new generation can now read why you were my mentor since the late 30's. It is so good to have you back with us. God Bless.
