U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Yale College in 1843, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1847, practiced law in Rochester, New York and engaged in commercial pursuits. In 1865, he was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-ninth Congress, serving until 1867. An elected as a Republican to the Thirty-ninth Congress, he was superintendent of the Railway Mail Service for the States of New York and Pennsylvania, (1869-76).
