Wm. Benkendorfer, Retired Farmer, Dies Dec. 25

William Benkendorfer, 92, retired West farmer, died at the home of a daughter in Kingsville at 4:25 a.m. Friday, Dec. 25. He was one of the pioneer settlers of this community.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold-Moore Funeral Chapel in West. Burial was in Closner Cemetery at West.

Mr. Benkendorfer was born in Germany and came to the United States as a child with his father, a widower, and several brothers and sisters. The family settled near Aquilla. Mr. Benkendorfer acquired his own farm near West as a young man and lived there 67 years.

Survivors include two sons, A.F. Benkendorfer of Rt. 7, Waco and Edwin Benkendorfer of West; three daughters, Mrs. J.L. Fowler of Kingsville, Mrs. H.C. Myers of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. H.F. Janke of Jarrell; a sisters, Mrs. Louise Seveiking of St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandsons of the fourth generation of Benkendorfers.

Pallbearers were: W.E. Benkendorfer of Los Angeles, Calif., Arthur Benkendorfer, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Donald Benkendorfer of Houston, J.L. Fowler of Kingsville, T.E. Fowler of Kingsville, and Hugo Gargas of Waco.
