Joseph Harris Shafer was born 16 April 1834 in Portland, Chautauqua County, New York. He was a son of Joseph N. Shafer and Lucinda E. Mallory Shafer. He was first married to Elizabeth Van Gaasbeek in 1859. After Elizabeth's death in 1873, Joseph Harris Shafer married (2nd) Angie Eva Wilcox. They, along with five of the six children born to Joseph H. and Elizabeth, moved to Williamson County, Texas, in 1877. Joseph Harris Shafer was my great great grandfather. His grave in the Old Round Rock Cemetery, Round Rock, Texas, was unmarked until 2003 when my family and I placed a marker there. H. Martin Soward, III(h.martin.soward@sbcglobal.net)
