"Alvin Armstrong
Obituary

SALEM - Alvin left this earth to be with the Lord and his beloved wife (Yvonne) and daughter (Sandi).

Alvin was born to Harvey and Isabelle Armstrong in Roy, Idaho. The family moved to Salem when Alvin was a child. Alvin graduated from Salem High School in 1936. Alvin proudly served his country in the Army from 1942 to 1945 during WWII and in the Air Force from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War, with tours in Japan and Korea.

Alvin married the love of his life, Yvonne (Walters) on Nov. 17, 1942. Yvonne died in 2006 after 63 wonderful years of marriage. They lived in Salem for most of their life, except for the years in Texas during his military career. They were blessed with their daughter, Sandi Kay in 1949. Sandi died in 1997 from breast cancer.

Alvin worked for DMV in Salem and Dallas for 25 years. Alvin belonged to many organizations including Elk's, American Legion, and Scottish Rite. Alvin and Yvonne enjoyed traveling to Reno and Spirit Mountain Casino in their "Golden Years".

Alvin is survived by sister, Velma Miller; granddaughters, Michelle (Jason) Lane and Gina (Will) Haynes; grandson, Scott (Tiffany) Eastlund; great-grandchildren, Maryssa, Jackson, Benjamin, Garrett, and Audrey; and nieces, Linda (Harry) Edminster and Lola Rux.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leila; brother, Ray; and daughter, Sandi. We were all so privileged to have had such a Sweet Man (and Woman) in our lives. We are comforted knowing Al and Yvonne (and Sandi) are together again in the Big Casino in the Sky!!!

The family would like to send a Big Thank You to Debbie Kump from Marquis Home Care for the outstanding care she provided that allowed him to spend his last year in his home.

A graveside service for Al and Yvonne will be held when the spring flowers start blooming. Donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in the name of Sandi K. Armstrong.
