Allen was born July 10, 1941, in Moline, the son of William and Helen (Gray) Carlile. He married Karen Kroeger on November 12, 1966, in Silvis, Ill. He worked at John Deere Foundry until it closed and then went to work for John Peterson Trucking, retiring in 2009. Allen was a member of the Black Hawk Shrine Club, Silvis Masonic Lodge 898 and the Silvis Eagles Club 1839. He was a NASCAR and Dallas Cowboys fan. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughters, Carrie Carlile-Davis, Nixa, Mo., and Tami Bohlander, Silvis, Ill.; and grandchildren, Torie and Camlen.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Chad.
