First husband of Dora Edith (Jones) Syferd Fowler (1874-1962). Oscar and Dora were married on December 11, 1890 in Highland County, Ohio. Oscar was the son of James M. Syferd and Susan F. (Johnson) Syferd.

"Oscar Syferd Dies at Reesville

Oscar Syferd, 75, died at his home in Reesville Saturday at 9:30 p.m. of complications, after having been bedfast for the past ten days. Born in Highland County, Sept. 6 1867, the son of James and Susan Syferd, he had been a resident of Reesville for many years. He is survived by the widow, Dora E. Syferd. Surviving also are one daughter, Mrs. Inez Hinkson, of Reesville; two brothers, William and Edgar, Leesburg; one sister, Mrs. Flo Morris, of near Memphis; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Littleton Funeral Home, Tuesday at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. M T McDonald, pastor of the Reesville Methodist Church, of which he was a member, assisted by Rev. Herman O. Secoy, pastor of Sabina Methodist Church. Interment was in the Lee's Creek cemetery."
