SHAFTSBURY - Betty Morgan Agone, 91, died June 2, 2011, at her residence, following a long illness.

She was born in Floral Park, Long Island, N.Y., Oct. 9, 1919, the daughter of Kingdon and Elizabeth (Moore) Morgan.

She was a 1941 graduate of Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam. She performed with the Crane School of Music Chorus at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Mrs. Agone was a teacher from 1941 to 1943 at General Martin Central School in Glenfield. After World War II, she taught for several years at Vestal Central School then became a full-time homemaker.

In Shaftsbury, she took horseback riding lessons in dressage at Schurink Riding Stables and she also enjoyed gardening and playing the piano.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Agone, whom she married Dec. 25, 1941; three sons, David of Stamford, Michael of Alton, Ill., and Thomas of Silverthorne, Colo.; a daughter, Kathleen Nastasi of Brewerton, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at noon Monday, June 6, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
