UPPER SANDUSKY Hilda Jane Hetzel, 97, formerly of 447 N. 4th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 3:04 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Feb. 2, 1905, near Sycamore to August John and Emmaline (Von Blon) Courtad. She married George Lewis Hetzel on June 22, 1927, and he died May 20, 1962.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Betty Jean) Murray, Sycamore; Mrs. Jon (Eleanor) Zimmerman, Upper Sandusky; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Gladys Brown, Upper Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Adrian and Claude Courtad; and four sisters, Effie Payne, Charlotte Feeley, Bernice Swinehart and Bessie Burks.
Mrs. Hetzel retired from the former Elmers China Closet. She also worked at the former Whetstone Cleaners and Lee's Trading Post, was chief cashier and clerk at the former Neumeister Bakery, and sold Rawleigh Products.
She attended the Smithville one-room school for eight grades.
Mrs. Hetzel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, where she was past president of Women of the Church; OES Chapter 366; and Wyandot County Home Extension Services.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Jerry Elsholz officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Bringman-Clark & Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.
Memorials may be made to Coronary Unit at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, the church or a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, 43351.
