Ray Kenneth Ayers age 74 of Carters Ridge Rd, Spruce Pine, NC passed away May 12, 2011 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC. He was the son of the late Charles Kenneth and Pearl Buchanan Ayers and a native of Mitchell County, NC. He was a former employee of Brad Ragan – Goodyear, and also retired Custodian at Grassy Creek Baptist Church where he was a member, dedicated Deacon, and involved in many activities of the church. He was a Veteran of The United States Army.
Survivors include his son Keith Ayers, of Plano, Texas, sisters, Betty Bryant and Marlene Pitman, of Bakersville, NC and Mary Helen Goins, of Childersburg, Alabama, also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha McKinney Ayers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 5:00PM in Grassy Creek Baptist Church with Matthew Mills and Gene Self officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Grassy Creek Cemetery.
