He was born in Red River Louisiana to Eddie Jackson Stroud and Zona Lee Chelette on Sept. 20, 1918 and died on June 14, 1986 in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. He enjoyed playing Basketball while he was in school and was offered a scholarship to play basketball for North Louisiana University but World War II broke out and all the boys were enlisting, as he did too. He joined the US Army and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. as rank of Sargeant 1st class in charge of training the troops in the Mojave desert. It was there that he met his wife, Lillie Ruth Brooks while she was working at an Aircraft Factory and they were married on Oct 19, 1943 in Yuma Arizona. He was a life long member of the Church of Christ. He was employed by National Life and Accident Insurance Co. for 23 yrs. until his health failed and he retired. They had two daughters. His most loved hobby was fishing. He was a wonderful Father, husband, and son.
