(1940 - 2011) Sally Pedroza Ramirez, a longtime resident of Oxnard and most recently in Pinon Hills, Calif., passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday the 4th of May, at the age of 70, after a valiant battle with cancer for almost six years.

Sally was born on Aug. 26, 1940, in Douglas, Ariz., where she spent her early childhood. At the age of five, her family moved to Oxnard. Sally was the daughter of Ramon Pedroza and Rosa Juarez, sister to Frank Pedroza, Steve Pedroza, Carmen (wife), Alex Juarez, Camille (wife) and Debbie Plath. She married Robert Nunez Ramirez on April 12, 1957.

After spending 48 years of their marriage in Oxnard, they relocated to Pinon Hills in 2004. Sally enjoyed life to the fullest with her whole family. Laughter and happiness were always around her wherever she went. What an awesome team my mom and dad were, throughout the years of their marriage. Sally enjoyed playing and coaching softball, cooking, sewing, knitting, and dancing. She liked to travel with the family in their RV, especially to her family reunions mostly held in Arizona.

Sally was active with her husband Bobby, hosting the Oxnard Mariachi Festival from 1991 to 2005 to create scholarships with the proceeds to give to local high school students. In 2005, Mr. Roberto Garcia took over the Mariachi Festival to keep the tradition going.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert "Bobby" Ramirez; mother, Rosa, and stepfather, Felix Juarez; children: Sylvia, Sandee, Brian, Robert, Maria (wife), and Isaac; as well as grandchildren: Monique, Silina, Danielle, Matt, Michael, Julie (wife), Nicole, and Christina; great-grandchildren: Jazmin, Janessa, Dallas, Bubbles, Destiny, Christian, Brooklyn, Samara, Jacob, Josh, Quintin, and Tanner. Sally will be joining Thalisa in Heaven.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, at Garcia Mortuary Chapel, 629 South "A" Street, Oxnard, CA 93030. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at Santa Clara Catholic Church, 323 South "E" Street, Oxnard.
