Virgil Hawkins Rasband, beloved father, grandfather, neighbor and friend, died August 7, 1990 of natural causes at his home in Salt Lake City.

Born June 2, 1901 in Salt Lake City to Charles and Esther Hawkins Rasband. Preceded in death by parents, seven brothers and sisters; wife, Eunice Patricia Rasband Blue and wife, Lorene Allington Rasband.

Survived by sister, Fern R. Walgren, sons, William H. Rasband and Charles V. Rasband, step-children, Darrel Allington and Joy Reynolds and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Virg was a sportsman all his life, especially recognized for his accomplishments in baseball, golf, bowling and fishing. A machinist, specializing in turbine and electric engines for D&RG and G.E. Member Elks Lodge. Served in U.S. Navy during World War I. His remarkable skills, keen mind and sharp wit will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 11, 1990, 12 noon, the Little Cottonwood 8th Ward, 825 East 6165 South (Holly Avenue), where friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment: Holladay Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
