Marie Bennett Alsmeyer

Marie Bennett Alsmeyer, 88 of Brenham, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village.

She was born March 30, 1923 in Waco, Texas to Thomas and Marybelle (Wood) Bennett. She was a 1940 graduate of Falfurrias High School.

From 1943-1945 she served in the U.S. Navy WAVES as a pharmacist mate at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland, California.

In 1948 she received her Bachelor in Journalism Degree from the University of Texas.
She was married to Henry L. Alsmeyer November 5, 1948 in First Presbyterian Church in Falfurrias, Texas by Rev. Paul Hanna.
Mrs. Alsmeyer was an author, having two books published, and a homemaker. Enjoyments included reading, sports, gardening and traveling. She was active in the Presbyterian Church both locally and regionally. Memberships included Theta Sigma Phi, Gamma Phi Beta, PEO-EQ Chapter and WAVES Nat'l.

Survivors include: husband, Henry L. Alsmeyer; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Janice Alsmeyer of Ipswich, England, Charles and Shari Alsmeyer of Lilburn, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Michael Kellett of Bryan, Texas; grandchildren, Callum and Allison Alsmeyer of Edinburgh, Scottland, Madeline and Matthew Balaam of Newcastle Tyne River, England, Dylan B. Alsmeyer of Lilburn, Georgia; great-grandson, Kenneth Graham Alsmeyer.

Graveside services will be Monday, April 11th at 2:30 p.m. in College Station Cemetery with Rev. Bret Hampton officiating.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 12th at 2:30 p.m. at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village chapel with Rev. Bret Hampton officiating.

The family wishes to thank for their tender loving care, the staff of Kruse Lutheran Village and caregivers Rosie Carmack, Marilyn Siglar and Annie Thomas.
