Rick,How sorry I am to learn of your death in Vietnam only yesterday. I wore the shirt that your mom gave me to the graduation from Jordan High School and I was so grateful that you and your mom gave me the money to rent the cap and gown for the graduation of the Class of 1965.....at that most miserable high school. You were a good friend to me during my two years at Jordan. You never made fun of my ratty clothes that my foster parents gave me to wear. Rick, as you knew, I enlisted in the Navy for 6 years in the Nuclear Program and became a nuclear machinist mate. I wore that shirt that your mom gave me on the bus to Dago for boot camp. The Navy mailed the clothes that I wore back to my foster parents so I never saw either them or the shirt again. I guess they gave it to another foster kid. I stayed in the Navy for 24 years and retired a full Navy lieutenant. After retirement, I worked for the government as a welding plumbing teacher for the Job Corps for another 14 years. Rick, I am so grateful that you were in my life and stuck up for me when I was being picked on because of my ratty clothes and because I was an honors student that today would be called a "nerd." I remember that it was your intention to join the Corps. I am ever so thankful to God that you were my friend at that messed up high school and that you stuck up for me when I was bullied. You were a great guy and your mom a fine woman and made the best cookies and lemonade in the world. Again, I just learned of your death yesterday and I was saddened to the depths of my soul. Save a place in Heaven for me Ricky. I know that you were a credit to the Marine Corps. Semper Fi!
