Eva Lucille Gossett, 84, of Chanute, Kansas died Friday, May 4, 2001 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute, Kansas.

She was born Oct. 5, 1916 at Earlton, Kansas, the daughter of Albertus and Pearl (Price) Shepard.

She grew up in the Earlton and Thayer areas and was graduated from Thayer High School.

On March 3, 1939 she married Franklin Gossett at Savonburg, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1983. Franklin was employed as a pipeline welder and they enjoyed traveling throughout the country for many years with his job.

She was a homemaker and loved to cook, making specialties for all the family members.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Chanute.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Gossett, of Chanute, KS; one daughter, Sharon Miley, of Chanute, KS; two brothers, Virgil Shepard of Sacramento, CA, and Harold Shepard of Cederedge, CO; two sisters, Alma Smith of Seily, OK, and Ruby Hedges, of Chanute, KS; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Shepard.

Funeral services will be Monday, at the Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery on E. 14th Street in Chanute, KS.
