Charles E. Henschel Sheboygan Press February 13, 1958

Charles E. Henschel, 85, a retired Town of Meeme farmer, died Wednesday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he had been a patient for the past week.
Born in the township on Sept. 26, 1875, he was a son of the late Christian and Maria Oemichen Henschel, and was confirmed in 1886 at St. James Reformed Church in Spring Valley. He spent his youth in the township and later moved to Faithorn, Mich., where he was employed on a farm and in a lumber camp for six years.
On April 20, 1899, he married the former Elvina Brandt of Faithorn at Marinette, Wis. The couple lived at Centerville for about six years and then purchased the home farm in the Town of Meeme which they couple operated until their retirement in 1935. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1949. His wife died in June 15, 1953.
He was a member of Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church in the town of Herman, a former elder of the church, a former Town of Meeme treasurer, a former school board member and a former agent for Town Meeme Fire Insurance Co.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Otto (Evelyn) Ebeling and Mrs. Hugo (Irene) Grohskopf, both of Town Herman, Mrs. Arno (Myrtle) Kraemer of Osman, Mrs. Erwald (Hilda) Stock of Newton; four sons, Albert and Edwin of Kiel, Melvin of Town Herman, Elmer of Manitowoc; 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Susan Eckardt and Mrs. Ida Gutschow, both of Sheboygan, Mrs. Mary Gosse of Owen, Wis., Mrs. Charles Boeldt of Manitowoc, Mrs. Walter Schuette of New Holstein, and Mrs. Alma Wernecke of Cleveland. Two daughters, a sister and two brothers also preceded him in death.
Services will be held at Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church in the town of Herman. The Rev. Carl Fried will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
