GARRISON — Opal "Neola" McConnell, 89, of Garrison, formerly of Minneapolis, passed into the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010. Neola was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Little Sauk, the daughter of Charles and Mable (Johnson) Aldrich. Her parents and infant sister, Doris, preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Leland; daughters, Callie (Robert) Pruss, of Minneapolis, and Rebecca (Robert) Nielsen, of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Ashley McConnell Almond and Whitney Nielsen; sister, Merlyne Bissell, of Verndale; brothers, Orris (Marge) Aldrich, of Baxter, and Myron (Lois) Aldrich, of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Hazel Lewis, of Elk River; brother-in-law, Loren Simmons, of Pine River; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Emmanuel Christian Center (7777 NE University Ave., Minneapolis). Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
