ARCHDALE – Betty Ray Seward Lohr, of Archdale passed away peacefully on March 10, 2011 at her home.

Born October 2, 1927 in High Point, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Linthicum Seward and the late Walter "Pop" Seward. Growing up on the Seward Dairy Farm, Betty learned to love family and appreciate hard work at the earliest age. She was a 1947 graduate of Trinity High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Lohr in 1998. Dwight was the love of her life and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage together. She worked for many years as a teacher's assistant in Randolph County Schools and retired in 1995.

Above all things, Betty deeply loved God, and her strong faith was evident in all she said or did. She was extremely passionate about three things in life: her church, her family, and Duke Basketball.

Mrs. Lohr is survived by her three children: Robert Michael (Mike) Lohr, and wife April of Archdale; Morrison Dwight (Mark) Lohr of Archdale; and Marsha Lohr York of Greensboro. Grandchildren: Lindsey Lohr Cox and husband, Chad of Thomasville; Whitney Dawn York of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Rob Caison of Wilmington; Christopher Caison of Charlotte; Courtney Caison of Archdale; and Adam Bartlett of Charlotte. Great-Grandchildren: Cleo Cox, Marcy-Marie Cox, and Reece Cox of Thomasville.

She is survived by three sisters: Gladys Fox (Buddy Fox) of Archdale; Ann Dowdy (Don Dowdy) of High Point; and Margaret Michaels of High Point. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Pat Peacock of Archdale and her brother-in-law Gus Lohr of Tennessee.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cumby's in Archdale. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Archdale, with Pastor Jeff Woods officiating. A graveside service will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Trinity, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to her church, Pine Grove Baptist Church: 6308 Modlin Grove Road, Archdale, North Carolina, 27263.
