Obituary
Barbara Louise (Mott) Ackerly Barbara passed away peacefully at the San Marco Nursing Home in Walnut Creek, California after a lengthy illness - on December 16th, 2004 - with her family at her side.
Barbara was born in Manila, Arkansas on January 31, 1919. Later on she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she attended high school, graduating in 1937. She went to work for the well-known Oak Hall Department Store as manager of the Boy's Department. In 1947, she moved on to Palo Alto, California where she resided with an aunt. While there, she worked several years for the O.M. Scott & Sons lawn seed company as a secretary. Barbara was very active in the YWCA of Palo Alto, where she was a charter member.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; John M. Mott, prior Physician-in-Chief of Kaiser-Permanente in Sacramento, and Charles Graham Mott of Poplar, Bluff, Missouri. Barbara leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Bob; a daughter Julia J. Williams, her husband, Gray, and their three children - Todd, Stephen, and Allison; and a son, Philip, his wife Terry, and their son, Scott; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no services - only a private gathering by the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Barbara's name may be made to the Hospice of Contra Costa County, 2051 Harrison Street, Concord, CA 94520..
