Maureen was born in Hyrum, Utah, the third child and first daughter of Robert and Blanche Baxter. She grew up and attended schools in Cache Valley.
She married Delbert Henry Fonnesbeck in Kemmerer, Wyoming, on June 23, 1937. During World War II while Deb was in the Merchant Marines in the Pacific, she raised their two children, Roy Dee and Gail. Their youngest, Gene, was born in 1951.
When they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, Deb joined his brothers in their electrical contracting business as their bookkeeper. She loved her garden and her kids. As a child visiting them in their home on Second Street, I always felt pleasingly spoiled and loved. Next to my Mom and Dad, she was probably my favorite person. I always thought it was cool that both her mother and my mother's mother had the name of "Blanche."
She and Deb divorced and on Sept. 8, 1963, in Las Vegas, NV, she eventually married Mr. Donald E. Dopp (whom I do not recall ever meeting, but my parents knew him...) They lived in Las Vegas for awhile and he wandered off. Aunt Maureen moved with Gene to Salt Lake City to be nearer to her son, Dee. When Gail moved back to Las Vegas, Maureen joined her. She died in Las Vegas. Miss her very much.
She was such a fine lady who had a heart big enough to include the whole world!
Her siblings are:
DeWayne LeRoy
John Woodrow "Woody"
Robert Max
Raymond
Donald N.
June
My sincere thanks to Annie for the transfer of Aunt Maureen. pfp
Cemetery records have her listed as 'Maureen Dopp' - she is buried in the Baxter Family plot near her parents. Her children (all with her ex-husband, Deb Fonnesbeck) had the headstone made with the Fonnesbeck name.
