Husband of Ruth Green Bateman

Harley Dean Bateman was the 1st son and the 1st child of James Monroe Bateman and Annie Jane Simms Bateman. Harley was living in Abilene, TX, when he met and married Ruth Green Bateman, the 4th daughter and the 8th child of William Hosea Green and Emma Olive Bryant Green, on June 15, 1940 in Hamlin, TX, Jones Co. They had two daughters, Harla "Jean", that's me, and Janet "Jan" Maurine, now deceased. Daddy worked for the U. S. Postal Service as an inside window Clerk and then a night Supervisor until he retired. He also had a side business of laying Linoleum, Floor Tile and Formica and went full time after retiring. He was well thought of by all his friends and business aquaintances.
Daddy and Mother were Church of Christ and, at the time of his death, were members of Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene.
No one ever had a better or more loved father than I did in Harley Bateman. He has been sorely missed and was very much loved by all.
