Friday, as announced in The Republican, the little son [daughter] of Mr. and Mrs. Lou [Lon] Homsher, of near Hope, was badly burned with hot grease.
The child died Saturday evening and the remains were laid to rest this afternoon. The death is a particularly sad one, and to the bereaved parents is extended the sincere sympathy of many friends.
The Evening Republican, Columbus, Indiana - Monday, Nov. 3, 1902
NOTE: OBIT showed it was a son which is incorrect, it was actually a daughter. It is a certainty that Josephine was the child spoken of in the news item, as her death certificate reports her death from burns. (And it's the only Homsher DC in that time period.)
