Frank John Sokol, 90, of Kittanning, formerly of Indiana, the man with the $1 million smile, died Friday at Armstrong Memorial Hospital, peacefully joining his wife Mary Louise to whom he had been happily married for 60 years at the time of her death. The son of Joseph and Victoria Frances Skinsky Sokol, he was born April 28, 1920, in Osceola Mills. Mr. Sokol was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church and the Lions Club, and he worked for the Harry M. Pollock Co. as a fork lift operator, all in Kittanning. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in New Guinea and the Philippines. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and cutting down any tree that got in his way. Frank was a true "gentleman," dashing and dapper and a friend to all with a great sense of humor referring to himself as being 5 feet 16 inches tall. He was honest, loving and a joy to be around. He is survived by two daughters, Bette Ann Anthony and her husband, Theodore, of Butler and Vicki Sokol of Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Joe Sokol of Rantoul, Ill.; one sister, Margaret Yastro of Yatesboro; one grandson, Jason Anthony and his wife, Michele, of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Louise Woodward Sokol; three brothers, infant Leonard, Raymond and Frank Sokol; and two sisters, Helen Sokol and Irene Lazeration; and his special pet companion, Buffy. SOKOL - Friends of Frank John Sokol, who died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, will be received Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., 36 N. 7th St., Indiana.
