Statesboro - Mr. Donald O. Hendrix, age 89, died Wednesday at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and life-long resident of Bulloch County was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II where he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He was the former owner/operator of Northside Auto Parts for over 30 years. Mr. Hendrix was a member of the Pittman Park United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Boyd's Coffee Club and the American Legion Post 90. Mr. Hendrix was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Macon Hendrix.

Surviving are his nieces and nephews, Virginia H. Spence of Portal, Jerral Hendrix of Sumter, S.C., Brenda Kay Hartsfield of Rincon, Rodney Hendrix of Ellabell, Deborah Faye Bowers of Springfield, Greg Hendrix of Statesboro, Lisa Tindal of Statesboro, Cindy Beaver of Savannah, Lee Hendrix of Statesboro, Sarah Jane Boswell and David Clark of Statesboro and his loving and caring sitters and caregivers, Audrey Bowen, Betty Gail Brinson, Kevin Parrish, Sara Jones and Yanas Jones.

Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery. Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
