She was born Nov. 8,1923, in rural Ogle County, the daughter of Arthur Lee and Katherine (Johnson) Tholen.
Following graduation from Franklin Grove High School, she attended Rockford School of Business. She was employed by Reynolds Wire Co., Dixon, as personnel secretary from 1945 to 1950. She later was employed by Lee County Department of Public Aid for 20 years, where she retired as administrator in 1986.
She married Robert Glessner on March 29,1947, at First United Methodist Church, Dixon.
Freda enjoyed baking, flower gardening, taking walks on the beach at Myrtle Beach, S.C., where she and Bob spent several winters, and painting beautiful pictures for her family.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Olijar.
