Elizabeth died 05 Jul 1802 and is buried in the family plot on the farm. There are six or seven graves on the hillside, including those of George, Sr. and his two wives, a son John, a daughter Dorcas, and a grandson who died at the age of twelve.
George, Jr. was born just before the family moved to the farm just east of Waverly, Ohio. The farm passed to George, Jr. until his death, when his son George Washington Downing became the owner. The old home was razed and a new one was built in a different spot when a railroad was built over the old home site in the late 1920's. The Downing Homestead passed from Downing ownership when George W. moved to Waverly in 1932.
