Blair E. Gibbons of Newberry Springs, passed away at his home on March 4, 2007. He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Indiana. He had been a resident of Newberry Springs for 25 years. Blair graduated in 1939 from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Ind. Blair was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Philippines during WWII. Blair was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monrovia and also a youth director there. He was the president of the Y Men's service Club of the YMCA of Monrovia, and belonged to the Clippinger's Corvair and Corvette Car Club in Covina, and the Newberry Springs American Legion Post # 751. Blair volunteered with the Newberry Springs Senior Center, the Newberry Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ruth Gibbons; and sister, Juanita Honey of Danville, Ind. Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Gibbons; daughters, Judythe Lehmann of Duarte, Ardythe Bartosch of Yermo, and Deenna Johnson of Newberry Springs; grandchildren, David Lehmann of Alaska, Evelyn Shevete of Moreno Valley, Shanna Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colo., DeWayne Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dawn Dawson of Mesa, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Nathan Lehmann of Palmdale, Crystal Lehmann, Ryan and Hannah Shevete of Moreno Valley, Anthony Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colo., Matthew and Andrew Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev., Emily, Stephen and JD Dawson of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Annette Johnson of Indiana, Lily Longere of Monticello, Ind., Miriam Cummins of Crawfordsville, Ind., Wanda Todd of Plantation, Fla.; and son-in-law, Stephen Johnson of Newberry Springs. The family asks that donations be made in Blair's memory to Cedar-Sinai Hospital Heart Foundation, 8700 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048.
