George was the brother of Elizabeth (Gons) Keesy (1808-1875). Elizabeth is #59697663. They also had another brother, William Gons, who died in Pennsylvania.

George married Sarah (Croninger) Gons on 18 June 1848 in Huron County, Ohio.

Sarah was the daughter of Jacob Croninger and Anna Maria (Hume) Croninger. She may have died before George moved to California.

In the 1850 U.S. Census, George and Sarah may have been living in Plymouth, Richland County, Ohio. George Gonice (born c.1820) and Sarah E. Gonice (born c.1819) had a daughter, Mary E. Gonice (born c.1850).
