U.S. Congressman Thomas Hordon Herndon (Jr.) was the son of Thomas Hord Herndon Sr. and Emma Sarah (Toulmin) Herndon. Grandson of Judge Harry Toulmin. Toulmin Avenue in Mobile was named for him but later renamed Michael Donald Boulevard. In 1872 he was the Democratic nominee for governor of Alabama.
