James B. Coon, 74, of Nitro died Dec. 11, 1998, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a short illness.

He was retired from Fike-Artel Chemical Co., Nitro, with 33 years' service. He was a member of United Steel Workers, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 9248, Nitro.

Surviving: wife, Virginia Cobb Coon; daughter, Robin Ellard of Poca; sister, Gladys Cobb of Hometown; brother, William R. Coon of Carolina; granddaughter, Niki Ellard.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. O.R. Gunno officiating.

Burial will be in New Antioch Cemetery, Confidence.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
