Son of Theodore Rhett and Mary Pearl White Harley.

HARTSVILLE - A memorial service for 1st Lieut. Ted R. Harley will be held in the First Baptist Church here Sunday afternoon at 6 o'clock.

Lieutenant Harley was killed in action in the Pacific area August 3. Word of his death was received yesterday from the war department by his mother, Mrs. T.R. Harley.

The service will be conducted by his pastor, Dr. Howard M. Reaves, assisted by Chaplain Kirk of the Florence Air Base, who will be accompanied by a guard of honor selected from the officers at the Florence Air Base.

Lieutenant Harley was a popular and promising young business man of Hartsville. Following his graduation from Clemson in 1940 and prior to his call from the reserves to active duty, he was employed in the chemical laboratory of the Sonoco Products Company. Lieutenant Harley's former fellow employees have been invited to attend as a body.
