Funeral services for Mrs. Merlin Long of Hope will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Eshbaugh Funeral home and from the Carlton United Presbyterian church in Carlton at 2:30. Burial will be made in the Ashton cemetery near Hope.

Mrs. Merlin Long
Mrs. Lena May Long, 67, died Friday at her home here. She was born December 27, 1897 in this area and has resided all her life in the community. She was a member of the Carlton United Presbyterian Church and of the UPW group of the church and a charter member of the Country Social club.
She is survived by her husband, Merlin; a son Verden of Elmo, two daughters, Mrs. Orvell Brunner Ramona, Mrs Arvis Shields of Salina; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Viola Haldeman and Mrs Olie Haldeman and three brothers, Irvin, Clarence and Harvey Rock all of Hope.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Eshbaugh Funeral home and at the Carlton Presbyterian church, the Rev. Ernest Largen and Rev. Norman Nettleton officiating.
Burial was in the Ashton cemetery.
Friends and relatives coming from a distance to attend the funeral of Mrs. Merl Long last Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. L. Meyers of Morrill, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Meyers of Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mummey of Emporia, Mrs. Arden Frankie of Murrill, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Largent of Topeka and Rev. Rienhold Schmidt, Jr., of Salina.
