Death of Mrs. Wm. Anyan

"Mrs. Anyan is dead."

For the past month, the entire people of this city have watched with painful anxiety the course of the illness of the wife of Hon. William Anyan. Ever since the day on which in the midst of the hearty every-day life of middle age, she was stricken with what has terminated her earthly existence, they sympathy extended herself and her family has been unbounded. Her friends have sat at her bedside constantly, and in her conscious moments she has been cheered by their presence and their attentions and cheering words; while during the time she was unconscious they sat silently awaiting the decree that was to bring joy or sadness.

At times she rallied and her husband and friends were encouraged to believe she would soon recover; and again she grew weaker and weaker, and their spirits dropped. But human still could not save her, and at 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening last she died.

Mrs. Miriam Anyan was born in Brigg, Lincolnshire, England, on November 23, 1823, and was at the time of her death 56 years, 3 months and 16 days old. She was married in 1847 — 33 years ago — to Wm. Anyan, and two years later they came to America. In 1869 they moved to Beatrice, this state, where the family resided till 1877, when they became residents of this city. She leaves a husband who mourns the loss of his life companion bitterly, and two sons, George, of Beatrice, and William, of this city, all of whom were with her during her last moments.

The funeral services were held at the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. Frank E. Bullard, of North Platte officiating, and were attended by many friends.

Mrs. Anyan will be missed greatly by the people who knew her. She was a good friend to everyone, a faithful wife, and an affectionate mother, and in the loss of the guiding star of their household, her husband and sons have the sympathy of all.
