Alexander Abbott.
Alexander Abbott was born in Lancaster, MO., April 1, 1872. He departed this life at Julesburg, Col., May 19, 1940, aged 68 years, 1 month and 19 days.
He was married to Dora Mae McElfresh February 24, 1892. She preceded him in death November 4, 1916, and was buried in the Geneva cemetery. They leave three daughters: Mrs. Ivan Callen of Julesburg, Col., Mrs. D. K. Wilson, Ft. Lupton, Col., and Mrs. C. E. Burkholder of Laramie, Wyo. He has two sisters, Mrs. George Hall of Red Cloud, Neb., and Mrs. S. J. Hall of Geneva, and one brother, Thomas of Mansfield, Mo. The brother was not well enough to come for the last rites.
Mr. Abbott farmed in Chelsea township for years and then moved to Ohiowa, where he ran a livery barn. Later he ran a restaurant and hotel at Milligan until his wife's health failed and they came to Geneva. Recently he had farmed in Colorado. He seemed to be in the best of health until a few days ago. He was always jovial, friendly and generous, making friends everywhere.
Brief services were held in Julesburg, Col., Monday at the home of his daughter. Further services were held by Rev. H. A. Dierdorff of the local United Brethren church in the Kritner mortuary at 2:30 Tuesday. He sleeps beside the form of his wife, awaiting the great awaking.
