James R. "J.R." Johnson was born January 16,
1927 in Calmar, Iowa to Theodore and Anna
(Olson) Johnson.

James graduated from Calmar High School and
attened the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

James served our country in the Army and
the Air Force.

James was a member and past officer of John
Deere Retirees Association and a past member
of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

James "J.R." Johnson, 71, of Dubuque, Iowa
died Wednesday, May 6, 1998 in Dubuque, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday,
May 8 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque,
Iowa. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery in
Dubuque, Iowa. The American Legion Dubuque Post 6
preformed military rites.

James is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters;
Lori(Ben) Schoenberger, Lynn (Jon) Remakel, and
Lisa (Steve) Greenwood, all of Dubuque, Ia.; a
son, Erik Johnson (Kelly Krausman) all of Dubuque,
Ia.; six grandchildren; Julie and Danielle
Schoenberger, Stephany and Hope Remakel, and
Mitchell and Miles Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister,
Ruth Peterson; and two brothers; Rupert Johnson
and Charles Johnson.
