James Edward Lovelace, Sr., age 90, of Semmes, AL passed away Wednesday morning, January 19, 2011 at Providence Hospital, Mobile. Born April 12, 1920 in Richburg, MS. to Ed and Della Lovelace. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local #112 of Mobile, AL. He was an original member and co-founder of the "Lovelace Gospel Singers" quartet. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 67 years, Agnes Lovelace (Momma Aggie) and his second wife, Estelle Goodman; two brothers, William D. Lovelace and Clarence R. Lovelace, two sisters, Bonnie J. Caton and Jewel Morrison. He is survived by five children, James E. (Jenni) Lovelace, Jr. of Satsuma, AL; Patricia (Roy) Dicks of Mt. Sterling, AL; Mary Christian, of Satsuma, AL; Linda Jenkins, of Malcolm, AL. and Rita (Tink) Ezell of Lavaca, AL; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herbert H. (I'Olun) Lovelace, of Wilmer, AL. Mr. Lovelace attended Calvary Temple Assembly in Saraland, AL. He leaves behind many church friends and family who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Saraland on Monday, January 24 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be 5:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
