Kitty Trask Holt, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal life on the morning of June 15, 2008.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church. Interment will be in the churchyard. A reception will be held in the church parish hall following the service.
Kitty was born June 24, 1943, in Wilmington, NC, and raised in Beaufort, SC, the daughter of Harold Eugene Trask and Kitty McKoy Trask.
Kitty graduated from Ashley Hall School, attended Salem College and graduated from Queens College. Kitty worked in real estate for twelve years with William Means Real Estate and the year she retired from real estate she was the top broker at her firm. She was a loyal member of St. Philips Episcopal Church and served on the vestry for several years. Kitty's unabiding faith in the Lord gave her the strength to face adversity with grace. Kitty has been active in the Charleston community for the past forty years. Her sense of helping others was manifested in all of her good works. She served on the Board of the Carolina Youth Foundation, Horizon House, and Big Brother-Big Sister. Kitty was active for many years in the Junior League of Charleston, the SC Colonial Dames, and the Historical Charleston Foundation.
She is survived by her husband, R. Edward L. Holt, III of Charleston, S C; one daughter, Katherine Holt Hill and her husband James C. Hill of Richmond, VA; two sons, R. Edward L. Holt, IV, and his wife, Caroline of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Harold T. Holt of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, James, Teddy, Walker, Edward and Leslie; four brothers and one sister, Harold E. Trask of Mount Pleasant, SC, William Trask and James M. Trask, both of Beaufort, SC, Donald Trask of Asheville, NC, and Margaret S. Trask of Beaufort, SC.
Memorials may be made to the recently established Kitty Trask Holt Endowed Chair for Scleroderma Research, c/o M.U.S.C. Foundation, 18 Bee St., P. O. Box 250450, Charleston, SC 29425. It was her hope that in the future through research that people afflicted with Scleroderma will have hope for a normal life and lifespan.
