John married Louisa Jane McGiddis,(maiden name is spelled Maguetis on her obit. /( other spellings are McGiddis/McGinnis) on 4/10/1860, they Div. on 11/24/1865 in Portsmouth,Ohio found in the papers of John Evans. He elististed in the Civil War, and filed for Civil War Pension, listing marriage to wife Elisa J.McGiddis. Louisa's parents are John Maguetis and Fannie Cowen. He married 2nd Lucretia Conn on 12/2/1865, they had their 1st.child Arilla in 1867.

John is the Son of Samuel Harrison Evans and Sarah 'Sallie' Daniels Evans.
