Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Fri., Dec. 3, for Etheyleen A. Dokken, 88, Astoria, who died on Nov. 30, 2010, at Hendricks Hospital in Hendricks, Minn. The Rev. Aaron Watson will officiate in Woodlake Lutheran Church, rural Astoria, and burial will be in Woodlake Cemetery there.

Casketbearers will be Christopher Janssen, Jerry Hogie, Wes White, Trevor Tesch, Dale Overby and Paul Kvernmoe.

Music will be provided by Julie Hogie, organist, and Matthew Janssen, soloist.

Visitation will be Thursday (tonight) from 5-7 p.m. in the Hendricks Hospital Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Ethyleen Schultz was born on Feb. 16, 1922, in Deuel County to Edward and Ethel (Boostrom) Schultz. She was raised in the Astoria area and graduated from Astoria High School. She received her teacher's certificate from Eastern Normal School, then returned to Astoria and began teaching in country schools.

On Oct. 4, 1947, she married Kermit Dokken. They lived on a farm north of Hendricks, Minn., for four years before moving to a farm near Astoria. They farmed there until 1983 and remained on the farm until 1995, when they moved into Astoria. In July 2002, she entered the Hendricks Nursing Home. Her husband died on October 17, 2002.

She was a member of Woodlake Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid, church circles and choir and taught Sunday School. She was also a Legion Auxiliary member.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy (Jim) Mikel of Madison; a son, Paul Dokken of Madison; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Lenora Hogie.
