Congresswoman Rankin, history will record you as one of America's bravest politicians. You stood by your convictions despite the attacks that you knew would follow. Today, office holders of both parties depend upon polls to tell them what to believe and how to vote. What a shame. They should follow your example.

Whe her political life was over Jeannette contintued her work for peace. She traveled to India and studied Ghandi's methods. She also led 5000 women in the Jeannette Rankin Birgade in 1968 protesting the expansion of the Vietnam war.
