M. Blair Alsip, 85, of Tiffin died, Thursday, November 25, 2010, while returning from Thanksgiving dinner with his family in Marion, Ohio. Blair was born July 24, 1925 in Tiffin, Ohio to Russell and Mary (Beck) Alsip. He married Nellie Turner on June 21, 1947 and she survives. Blair and Nellie observed their 63rd anniversary in 2010. Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was a sister, Miriam L. Frankart and a brother Russell R. Alsip Jr. His beloved children include Mary McCall (Bill Buskirk) of Tiffin, Russell R. Alsip (deceased), Julie (Rod) Graf of Maumee, Jennifer (John) Bowen of Tiffin, and Andy (Connie) Alsip of Bettsville. He delighted in his five grandchildren, Paul Alsip, Abigail Marchisio, Tyler Graf, Claire Miller, and Meredith Miller. He loved and was loved by a large family of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and many friends.

Blair left Columbian High School before his senior year and enlisted in the Navy. He served from 1942 to 1945 as a member of the Armed Guard, teams of Navy gunman who served on merchant ships. He made fourteen trips to Murmansk and many other ports of call around the world. Following his discharge he earned his GED and took classes at Tiffin University. He worked at Turner's Restaurant, Hossler Construction, and as manager of The Gordon Lumber Company in Fostoria, Bettsville and Tiffin. From 1965 to 1985 he was the owner of Tiffin Fence Company and Blair's Attic. He retired in 1995.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory, 135 North Washington Street, Tiffin, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date.
