The daughter of Jonas Weems and Mary Frances Powers Weems, she was born in Newton County, Missouri, January 8, 1871 and passed away at Neosho, September 16, 1954 at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 8 days. She spent her entire life in Newton County, with the exception fo brief wintertime visits with her children.
She professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Methodist Church. she remained a faithful member until lher passing. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the members of that order rendered the last rites at the grave.
On November 24, 1889, she was united in marriage to Charles H. Austin. To this union five children were born. Her husband preceded her in death on September 6, 1940 and one son, who passed away two years ago.
Surviving are four children, Frank W. Austin, Santa Paula, California, Mrs. Cora McMahan, Coats, Kansas, John H. Austin, Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and Roy E. Austin, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Dent, Seligman, Missouri, and Mrs. Ora Tanner, Newtonia, Missouri, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a number of other more distant relatives and a wide circle of friends.
