His name may be Bradshaw, as it appears here and in church records with the period at the end, as if abbreviated. I am not certain of the exact words at the top of the memorial, but the sentiment seems to be "His delight was in service of the Lord."

Rev. James Brads. Born Jan'y 18, 1813. Fell on sleep Dec'r 18, 1887. For 33 years a faithful Minister of the Gospel.

James Brads was the appointed preacher for Warrenton 1846-47. Born Jan. 18, 1813, he was admitted to Baltimore MEC on trial in 1836, ordained a Deacon in full connection in 1838, and ordained an Elder in 1841. He preached under MEC appointment 37 years (1836-40, 1841-74), superannuated (retired) in 1840 & 1874, and died Dec. 18, 1887, in Orange, N.J.—he is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Baltimore. His other appointments were Gettysburg, Moorefield, Wardensville, Christiansburg, Concord, Williamsburg, Frederick Circuit, Westmoreland, York Springs, Boonsboro, Danville, York-Codorus Mission, York, and Whatcoat (Baltimore) in Baltimore MEC (1836-59); East Baltimore MEC (1859-69); and, in Baltimore MEC (1869-74), Wesley Chapel (Baltimore, supply), Gorsuch (Washington), Conf supply, and Madison Ave (Baltimore, supply).
