Mrs. Armistead, 89, of Grottoes, died at Sunnyside Retirement Community, where she had lived since 1995. She was the daughter of Charles A. Randall and Mattie Dearing Randall.
She graduated from Weyers Cave High School in 1934, and attended Mayflower School of Cosmetology in Lynchburg. She returned to Grottoes, where she operated a beauty shop until the loss of her sight at the age of 32. She was a member of Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church.
On May 10, 1962, she married the Rev. Mason H. Armistead, who preceded her in death, December 24, 1969.
She was survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
